This year Secondary1st is awarding two research grants. Both are very relevant to secondary breast cancer. One grant goes to a team in Glasgow which is studying the relationship between cancer and the immune system and investigating how immune cells participate in the metastatic process leading to the development of new immunotherapies to counteract metastatic lesions.  The other goes to a team in Bradford which is working on a project to examine the enzymes which metabolise  certain drugs which are extremely effective but do not distinguish between cancer cells and normal cells and make these drugs usable by attenuating their effect so that they only attack cancer cells.
